On Our Way to the Pumpkin Patch

Where some of Toronto's best pumpkins go once the trick-or-treating is done.

Sorauren is one of Toronto’s quieter parks, most of the time. There’s a farmers’ market Monday afternoons, and the neighbourhood kids get together some pretty good softball games, but it isn’t a park that draws people from beyond the nearby blocks, generally. Except, that is, the day after Halloween. Every November 1 for the past eight years, Sorauren’s Pumpkin Parade turns the park into a glowing end-of-Halloween party that attracts hundreds of Toronto’s best pumpkin carvers, and hundreds more who want to appreciate their work. No word yet on this year’s pumpkin total, but the previous record was more than 1,600 pumpkins lining the path in the park. In the gallery above, some of the best that you, dear readers and Flickr pool contributors, spotted this year.
