Extra, Extra: Bicycle Going Backwards, Bike Network Growing East and Westwards
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Saturday, a rally and march in which Occupy Toronto called for the eviction of Rob Ford. Backwards bike dude was there, eviction sign in hand, riding in reverse all the while.
- Bixi is on the move, with 10 existing stations being relocated for the winter (so as not to interfere with snow clearing operations) to points east, up to Sherbourne, and west, as far as Bathurst.
- If you missed it over the weekend: the TDSB school’s ball ban made it onto Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update. Congratulations and all that.
- You know what’s worse for a politician than being caught lying? The dreaded flip-flop. (Note: we do not endorse this form of judgment, but it’s certainly true that elected officials get hung for it more than just sticking to falsehoods.) Over at City Hall blog Ford for Toronto, Matt Elliot does a Daily Show-style gotcha comparison of what Denzil Minnan-Wong (Ward 34, Don Valley East) said a couple years ago about recycling and garbage versus what he says today. The verdict: Minnan-Wong finds Minnan-Wong wanting.
- Here, near Christie and Dupont, and for reasons that are not entirely clear, is a phone booth dressed up in fun fur.
