Duly Quoted: Joe Mihevc

“All signs point to Sheppard being dead—D-E-A-D, dead—and I think the only thing that hasn’t happened is the news becoming public.”

—Councillor Joe Mihevc (Ward 21, St. Paul’s), also former vice-chair of the TTC, reacting to news that the province won’t be giving Toronto an advance on funds for the Sheppard subway Rob Ford is hoping to build. According to a deal between Ford and the province, the City will get any money left over if the Eglinton LRT line comes in under budget, up to a total of $650 million. In August, Rob Ford asked Dalton McGuinty for that money early—even though, of course, the Eglinton line hasn’t been built yet and nobody has any idea how much money may be left over once it’s done.
