Proud finalist in four categories of the Canadian Online Publishing Awards, including Best Online-Only Publication.
The 2011 Canadian Online Publishing Awards finalists were announced last week, and Torontoist is excited to be up for four of them. We’ve got nods in Best Overall Online-Only Publication, Best Blog, Best News Coverage, and Best Online-Only Article or Series. The nominations recognize everything from the funny to the serious: the pieces we submitted range from Unseen City, in which we explore buildings not generally open to the public, to our Subway(TM) map (St. George Stroumboulopoulos!), to our live G20 coverage.
In 2010, Torontoist won in two categories—Best News and Best Article—and was a finalist in three others (Best Overall Website, Best Blog, and Best Community Feature) and at the 2009 COPAs, we were finalists for Best Blog and Best News Coverage.
Now in their third year, the COPAs—which are produced by the publishers of magazine-industry journal Masthead—are expanding this time, to include a one-day conference, COPA+, that will include keynote sessions and presentations. Both the COPA+ and the awards presentation take place on October 24 at the Gladstone Hotel.
