Toronto Public Health Now Running Free Flu Shot Clinics

Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David McKeown, wants you to get a flu shot this year. Whether you like them or not, or you think they’re part of some elaborate conspiracy and blah blah blah, McKeown notes in a City news release that when you get the shot “you are not just protecting yourself — you are also protecting your loved ones, co-workers and the public.” And with Toronto Public Health running 46 free flu clinics [PDF] at 16 locations across the city, starting this week and ending in mid-January, it’s easy to do. If your friends, roommates, or family members fall into one of the high-risk groups—children younger than two years of age, people 65 years of age and older, residents of long-term care homes or chronic-care facilities, people with chronic health conditions, pregnant women, aboriginal peoples, and people who are obese—it’s extra important, according to TPH. At the very least, let’s remember to wash our hands and to sleeve sneeze, mmmkay?
