NUIT BLANCHE: LIVE
- The Feast of Trimalchio: beautiful CGI in 360 degree surround.
- The Heart Machine: play with fire and stay warm at the same time.
- Flightpath Toronto: They’ve been having some glitches, but it’ll be the one everyone talks about tomorrow.
- Ride the Rocket: it really is the best TTC ride you’ve ever taken.
- The Free Shop: one of the most moving projects at any Nuit Blanche.
- A Brief History of Rebellion: aka The 144x Teen Spirit thing.
- Fly By Night: rooms and rooms of actually good stuff!

Most of the exhibits are shut down now, and therefore so shall we. Thanks for another great Nuit, Toronto! And keep yours eyes out for some final thoughts on the highs and lows of this year’s all-night art thing, coming Monday morning.

The ragged spirit (and voices, and fingers) of Nuit Blanche are still alive down in the Toronto Underground Cinema, as “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is still recognizably drifts up the stairs. Fellow Torontoist contributor Jamie Bradburn and I gamely take the stage, but we come in too slowly after the guitar solo, the song devolves into chaos, and is ultimately called.” “That’s only the second time that’s happened in 11 hours,” says a guitarist, though he assures us we were doing well until then. We had a blast, despite it feeling like we failed at “Rock Band.”

Don’t think this was an official Nuit Blanche event, but a huge drum circle developed in Queen’s Park, and then some fire dancers showed up. Within fifteen minutes or so there were easily a couple of hundred audience members gathered.

Cirrus could have been incredibly peaceful and relaxing, but the number of people hurriedly rushing through made it difficult to appreciate the artwork and attention to detail.

Members of Gravity Wave play a short, one song set as people interact with their installation, Observer FX. Bottom: ever wonder what’s behind the scenes of some of the Nuit Blanche exhibitions? In the case of Observer FX, it’s a whole lot of creative computer programming. Those little star looking things on the screen is a program identifying people as they enter the interactive area.

A view of Reeds from the inside. The peoples’ silhouettes are created by their shadow being cast onto the windows as someone is taking their photo behind them. Very cool, but it’s a shame they weren’t able to get the city to turn the lights out so people on the street could see the projections better.

Rain creating weird scenes on Bay Street. People dancing on bar at Mercatto as if it’s Coyote Ugly. In front of Chevy display, men in jackets and ties were shimmying away. DJs now packing equipment away as the cleaning crew sweeps the road.
