Suspicious Package Shuts Down Yonge Subway Between Bloor and Union
The TTC announced via Twitter just before 3 p.m. that the Yonge Line was closed between Bloor and Union stations due to a police investigation at King Station. Shortly after, Francis D’Souza of City News tweeted that the shut-down resulted from the discovery of a “suspicious package,” which was found on a northbound train at the station at 2:22 p.m., according to CP24, who also say the north and southbound lanes of Yonge Street are closed to traffic between King and Adelaide streets. 680 News reports the King streetcar is diverting along Spadina, Queen, and Church streets. The TTC has dispatched shuttle buses to run between Yonge and Union. We will update this story when further details are available. [UPDATE, 3:40 p.m.: Thankfully, it appears this was a false alarms. The TTC says regular subway and streetcar service has resumed.]
