Every weekday's end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

  • Pedestrians in Toronto are feeling a bit under the gun, with a re-examination of the Yonge-Dundas scramble intersection in the works at City Hall. Travellers on two feet can win the hearts of at least some governments though: Bolivia held its first ever Day of the Pedestrian this past week, and banned all motorized vehicles from the streets of cities across the country.
  • TIFF is underway, and with the festival come many celebrities, descending on the city in search of critical love and attention. Among the slightly more off-beat visitors: Thierry Guetta, a.k.a. Mr. Brainwash, friend of Banksy and hero of Exit Through the Gift Shop. TIFF has apparently “commissioned Guetta to install seven eight-foot-tall spray cans festooned with the artist’s unique take on Hollywood […] along the red carpet at Roy Thomson Hall,” reports the Ministry of Artistic Affairs.
  • Those frustrated with our current administration can indulge in a bit of nostalgia for the previous one today: former TTC Chair Adam Giambrone has some fairly down-to-earth and sensible ideas about how we could go about balancing our budget without drastic cuts this week in NOW.
