Extra, Extra: Less Bottled Water, and Fun With Maps
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Fun find of the day: WhatWasThere is a website that layers historical photos of Toronto (and other cities as well) over Google Street View, allowing you to see old buildings and streetscapes in their geographical context. Visitors to the site are encouraged to upload images and tag them with their location, a giant crowdsourcing history project we have procrastinated with a lot today.
- Joining many other municipalities and organizations (including, for the moment, the City of Toronto), all three University of Toronto campuses are phasing out bottled water.
- Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath is telling NDP candidates not to try to stir up sympathies via Jack Layton’s death. The CBC is reporting that two Toronto-area candidates were invoking Layton and the impact his death has had on the New Democrats in pre-recorded calls to residents.
