Extra, Extra: Just Like High School, with an A.V. Club and Council Gossip
Every weekday’s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

- A huge, happy welcome to the A.V. Club, which has now made its way to Toronto and will be appearing in print and online. We’re especially proud that their Toronto editor is the newest Torontoist alum, former staff writer John Semley. (There’s a launch party tonight. You can come.)
- “In the words of our Lord…” Give thanks to Toronto Life for starting the Conrad Black Book Club, wherein they will discuss one chapter of his new book each week. (Basically, funny quotes. But they are good.)
- Jane Farrow, until now executive director of Jane’s Walk, has left her position to take a new one, working for councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon (Ward 32, Beaches-East York). Jane’s Walk will begin a search for a new executive director shortly.
- In a slightly more eyebrow-raising bit of City Hall business: a new board member has just been appointed to the Toronto Atmospheric Fund, which works to combat climate change. The appointee: Alykhan Velshi, whose previous job was campaigning on behalf of Canada’s oil industry.
- Feist has a new album, Metals, and you can listen to it right! now!
