- In summer and fall, Toronto’s urban forest makes the city a more colourful (and cooler) place to be. Our trees do much more than that, of course, as Mark Cullen notes in his open letter to Rob Ford and the executive committee. He’s asking them to “create a task force that is charged with the responsibility to double the tree canopy by 2050,” by taking advantage of private/public partnerships.
- Most people prepare for TIFF by poring over programmes and critics’ picks (did you see ours?), but not many consider how they’re going to get around during the 11-day film-o-rama. If you’re thinking of theatre-hopping on foot this year, you should check out this chart by Sanjay Rajput that shows approximate walking times between TIFF venues. We can’t verify its accuracy, but it seems like a good way to guesstimate.
- You can yell about it until you’re red in the face, but some people just don’t get the importance of setting apart words uses careful spacing, capitalization, or fonts of different colours or types. Sometimes it’s the difference between an inspirational slogan about real estate ownership and a sign that describes of a prophylactic-intensive lifestyle.
