Truck Stolen from Daily Bread Food Bank

SAD Get ready to think less of humanity. Someone stole a Daily Bread Food Bank truck carrying the message “Fighting Hunger” last night, according to a report from CityNews. The truck, worth $150,000 and paid for entirely by donations, was used to transport food to people in need around the GTA. It’s suspected that whoever broke into the food bank’s facility at 191 New Toronto Street also stole GPS devices. Until their insurance claim clears, the food bank, which helps 73,000 people each month, will have to rent a truck to compensate for the stolen one.

UPDATE: July 15, 2011, 4:00 PM
A representative from the Daily Bread Food Bank told CityNews this afternoon that the truck has been found. A police officer came upon it just three kilometres from the food bank. Police are still reviewing tapes of the incident and so far have only said that at least one male was involved in the theft.
