- Talking about transit service is practically Toronto’s official pastime. If you’re interested in doing that publicly—but anonymously—consider submitting your rants to TTC Stories, which describes itself as “a website for submitting and sharing your experiences and photos from riding the TTC. Gripes, compliments, etiquette; it’s all fair game.” In addition to the website, there’s also a Twitter feed. It will be interesting to see how, or if, the TTC responds to complaints posted on the site.
- Toronto residents have things to say to Rob Ford, too. And now they can submit their open letters to the mayor’s office to Dear Mayor Ford—hopefully in addition to sending them here.
- According to a recent poll [PDF], Rob Ford’s approval rating has dropped since March of this year, and more of the people who disapprove of his performance disapprove strongly. About the results and how they were gathered: none of the three polls had more than 500 respondents. Also, the first poll was conducted via an “online panel,” while the second two were by an automated phone poll.
- Toronto has a wealth of historic signs, and in the College and Dovercourt neighbourhood, the one that hangs from the former home of the Matador is something of a landmark. The building’s new owner, who’s renovating the interior, did a little research and discovered that, long before it was an infamous after-hours club, the space hosted more wholesome pursuits. Though it’s been rotated and re-lettered over the years, the Matador’s sign once represented a bowling pin, of all things. The OpenFile Toronto‘s interview with the owner here.
