A week ago, Doug Ford (Ward 2, Etobicoke North) complained—erroneously—that his ward had too many libraries compared with Tim Hortons locations. Many are speculating that this is setting the stage for some significant library cutbacks (which will be released tomorrow). Bracing for that and going on the offensive, the Toronto Public Library Workers Union has set up a website to centralize efforts to try and maintain library services. Our Public Library includes a petition, a blog, and some library workers’ views on the challenges the library system may soon face.
