Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- The above video, composed of gorgeous Toronto time-lapses captured all over the city in March and April this year, is the work of local photographer Ben Lean (a.k.a *Imperialis*). Thanks to a chilled-out Moby soundtrack and smooth editing, this could easily be the most relaxing four-and-a-half minutes of your day.
- Welcome to Toronto’s official Magazine Week. Maybe you haven’t been keeping up on your mayoral proclamations and missed it, so here’s Rob Ford’s official statement, naming the week in recognition of the 34th Annual National Magazine Awards gala this Friday and the MagNet conference, which kicks off tomorrow.
- The Humber Cinema has sat empty since 2003, when owner Cineplex Odeon closed its doors, but now residents of the Jane-Bloor neighbourhood have their theatre back. The Humber’s rebirth is described in detail in a post on Urban Toronto today. Currently showing: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Can’t win ’em all.
- A recommended read: the Posted Toronto Political Panel discussed the public consultation portion of the City’s Service Review program. Chris Selley, Jonathan Goldsbie, and Matt Gurney question the usefulness of the process, and the motives behind it. In case you missed it earlier today, here is our discussion with a polling expert about the online survey.
