Christie Blatchford Resigns from the Globe

MEDIA First setting Twitter abuzz, and just confirmed by the Grid, long-standing and controversial columnist Christie Blatchford is resigning from the Globe and Mail; her last column is expected to run in a couple of weeks. Blatchford told the Grid that she was leaving to pursue another as-yet-unnamed opportunity elsewhere. Blatchford has worked as a crime reporter or columnist for every major daily in Toronto, and came to particular attention with her coverage of the Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka trials.
UPDATE, June 1, 3:15 p.m.: Hot on the heels of that confirmation, news now that Blatchford is moving to Postmedia where she will be filing a weekly column for the National Post, as well as covering some news stories.
