WHERE: 165 Bathurst St.
WHEN: Just after 1 p.m., today (photos taken between 1:24 and 1:36 p.m.)
WHAT: As first tweeted by the Toronto Standard, whose offices are just across from the scene: “Meth lab busted behind the Standard’s offices,” and then, “after neighbours’ complaints police went into suspected meth lab this morning. welcome to neighborhood CB2! #bigbopmeth,” referring to the furniture retailer that will soon occupy the former home of the Big Bop/Kathedral complex.
Torontoist photographer Harry Choi visited the scene and spoke to a firefighter. Choi reports: “He said they found a drug lab, but there was no explosion. They will be there for a while when the police are inside doing their investigation.”
Toronto Standard later tweeted, “correction-165 Bathurst meth bust. Right behind our offices. 2 in custody after 911 ‘unknown trouble’ call last night.” They also confirmed in response to our question that it is a meth lab, adding that police are describing it as “small scale though possibly also making GHB.”
