Postal Strike Deadline Set
HAPPENING NOW 11:59 p.m. on Thursday—that’s when mail delivery services might come to a halt, if Canada Post can’t reach an agreement with the union representing postal workers (CUPW). The union’s previous contract expired in January, and in a note posted to their website today CUPW said that “the corporation has ignored our major demands while insisting on a vast array of concessions.” The Star is reporting that nearly 95 per cent of union members voted for the strike mandate. Salaries and sick leave benefits are the key sticking points cited by CUPW.
