Jaggi Singh, accused ringleader of G20 troublemakers, pleaded guilty yesterday to counselling mischief for inciting others to tear down the security wall that surrounded the summit area. As part of the plea deal, Singh has refused to apologize for his actions, even though the wall had indicated it was willing to forgive and forget.
Following a number of public complaints, the OPP have warned two water heater salesmen about being overly aggressive in their sales tactics. The two were warned with “being unlawfully in a dwelling place.” Details on the case are limited, but it seems that the two were entering homes to look at water heaters against the homeowner’s wishes. Police are advising GTA residents to avoid dealing with “Bill’s Home Heating & Invasions.”
Hang on to those tokens! Presto may not fly on the TTC unless the price tag stays below $200 million, says TTC chair Karen Stintz. The stored value card system is already being rolled out across the TTC and GO Transit, as well as other regional transit systems, but Stintz said it could be replaced if the final cost looks too high.
US diplomatic cables newly released by Wikileaks show that American diplomats were interested in encouraging US companies to bid on contracts for the planned TTC expansion. Which is actually part of their job and not very interesting, but it’s Wikileaks and secret so it feels kind of cool.
On the campaign trail, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff acknowledged that his NDP counterpart Jack Layton “has a lovely smile.” Fortunately this is all over soon.
