Extra, Extra: Preserving Farmland, Protecting Bike Lanes

For five days, concerned Ontarians have been walking—from Queen’s Park, on Friday, to a farm near Horning’s Mills (about 110 km north of Toronto) today—to protest a proposed mega-quarry that would dig a 940 hectare pit in the middle of prime farmland. The proposal was recently submitted to the Ministry of Natural Resources; local residents are extremely concerned about the effect this will have on the area’s watershed and its agricultural viability.
