Extra, Extra: Old Relics and Old Photos
By Fort York, in the shadow of rising condo towers, an historical surprise: remains from the Grand Trunk Railway engine house have been discovered on the site of the Library District Condominiums complex, which is slated to include a library branch and park in addition to the new condo tower. Grand Trunk began operations in 1852, and the engine house dates from the 1850s. It is unclear how the discovery will affect construction plans.
