Extra, Extra: Nice Wheels, and Nerdy Election Fun
Marcelo da Luz has a solar-powered car, dubbed XOF1 (Power of One), that has been criss-crossing its across North America since 2008. It’s all part of a project to “promote the use of clean and sustainable energy and inspire others to do the same.” Sadly for da Luz, the Ontario government has squelched one leg of XOF1’s journey: he recently received notification that he would not be permitted to drive the vehicle on Ontario roads. His response? Ditch the batteries and the motor, and physically pull the car across the province. Da Luz and XOF1 are set to arrive in Toronto—with a final destination of Queen’s Park—sometime tomorrow, “[w]eather, Marcelo’s chicken legs and Ontario’s citizens permitting.”
