By-Elections Needed for Ward 9 and TDSB Ward 4, Judge Says

headlesscouncil.jpg    Residents of Ward 9, York Centre, and the Toronto District School Board’s Ward 4 will be back at the polls sooner than they expected. The Globe is reporting that a judge has deemed the results of last October’s municipal election invalid due to “irregularities” in the voters lists, specifically because of forms allowing last-minute changes to the voter list that were missing the signatures of electoral officers. In Ward 9, the runner-up in the October 25 election, Gus Cusimano, brought a lawsuit against the City after he lost by just 89 votes to incumbent councillor Maria Augimeri; in TDSB Ward 4, Mike Sullivan raised the issue after Stephnie Payne won by 56 votes. The by-elections are to take place within the next two months.
