Today in Toronto: a film pitch-off for would-be auteurs, a collection of consummate comedians takes over the Rivoli, and beekeepers descend on the city—and we don’t mean apiarists.

FILM: Think you’ve got the next Hobo With A Shotgun percolating in the back of your mind? Well, that’s probably a bad sign in terms of mental health, but it could also score you some sweet prizes at Live!Ammunition!, an evening of film pitching with industry professionals. Hosted by Raindance, the annual panel invites independent screenwriters and filmmakers to pitch their ideas in two minutes or less to a live audience, including a panel of industry insiders. With over fifteen hundred dollars worth of prizes on the table and even more valuable connections to be made at the post-pitch shmoozefest, this is a prime opportunity for you would-be Spielbergs. Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West), 7 p.m., $10.
COMEDY: Reid Janisse hosts tonight’s Sketch Comedy Lounge, which brings together a hilarious cross-section of the city’s comedic talent at the Rivoli each Tuesday. This week’s lineup of rib ticklers includes Sean Cullen, Fringe favourites 2-Man No-Show, and the superstar team of Statutory Jape, as well as Ron Sparks at his weekly newsdesk post. The Rivoli (334 Queen Street West), 9 p.m., PWYC.
MUSIC: Vancouver’s indie post-pop darlings beekeeper are set to take the stage at Parts & Labour tonight, bringing their quirky, rambunctious sound to the Big Smoke. The group will be promoting its new album, Be Kept, which follows the trials and tribulations of a lovelorn ex-pat and would-be dragon slayer. Known for their unpredictable performances, beekeeper will be joined by Greys, Tender Lion, and the Weather Station. Parts & Labour (1566 Queen Street West), 9 p.m., $7.
