Scene: iPad 2 Lineups

WHAT: Another long wait for Apple fans across the city on the day of the iPad 2 launch. According to Christopher Drost, Sherway Gardens staff were asking people to line up in the centre of the mall hallway, to keep other pedestrian traffic and Apple Store operations running smoothly. “The lineup goes from the Apple Store to past Pottery Barn, turns and goes out the doors with some people (un)fortunately forced to camp in the vestibule between the mall and outside… while the line grows outside.”
At the Eaton Centre, Nick Kozak shot the second photo above just as the Apple Store’s employees rushed out to greet the waiting crowd. The subject of the photo is Oren Lasko, who was first in line and the first customer there to get his hands on not just one but two tablets. Lasko told us that he arrived at the Eaton Centre at 7 a.m. on Thursday morning.
