Duly Quoted: Steve Anderson

“We hope the CRTC takes Bell’s submission as a sign that widespread usage-based billing is not an acceptable model for Internet pricing, and that it creates policy to support the affordable Internet.”
—Steve Anderson, executive director of OpenMedia, discussing the new “aggregated volume pricing” proposal that Bell submitted to the CRTC yesterday. The new plan effectively backs off on the company’s previous usage-based billing proposal that would have forced independent ISPs—the ones that use Bell’s network infrastructure—to charge “high-volume” customers extra. OpenMedia has been running a campaign against UBB since last fall.
