Recently Reopened Green Room is Even More Recently Reclosed

Popular student hangout the Green Room has been shuttered once again, not by Toronto Public Health, but because it was operating without a license, BlogTO is reporting. While the business did submit an application to Municipal Licensing and Standards, it was refused due to “concerns stemming from City of Toronto investigations.” Search results from the City’s Business License Lookup service—which omit suspended licenses—are not including the Green Room alongside nearby establishments the Annex Live or Labyrinth.
Our calls to the Green Room went unanswered, but Bruce Hawkins of MLS confirmed that a letter denying a license application was mailed to the Green Room on February 23. He told us that they have until March 24 to appeal to the licensing tribual and request a hearing.
In light of the increasingly infamous eatery‘s numerous closures and rebirths, it’s pretty unlikely this latest development is going to be an open-and-shut case.
