  • Rate My Vélo is a new website that is kind of like “Hot or Not?” for bicycles. The idea is to highlight the fact that “bicycles are for more than just sport—we promote bicycles as a pragmatic mode of transportation. People on bicycles are sexy.” Indeed they are, and you can vote for the sexiest of them (or their rides) right here. [via Biking Toronto]
  • In other fun transportation tidbits, transit geek (and Torontoist contributor) Laurence Lui has an online shop of fun TTC-themed items, including the now-ready TTC streetcar rollsigns—pick your favourite route!
  • Toronto-based The Mark News has just secured a second round of financing, courtesy of a venture capital firm and several local investors. “The money that we’ve raised isn’t a direct result of [the AOL-Huffington Post deal], but the fact is, The Huffington Post was in many ways part of the inspiration for The Mark,” their chief executive told the Financial Post in an interview, which may or may not be the kind of comparison that you find endearing.
  • Placido Domingo is coming to Toronto and will be headlining a new annual music fest. The BlackCreek Summer Music Festival will officially be introduced in a press conference tomorrow; the festival’s season is slated to run from June–September, at York University’s Rexall Centre.
  • It seems that Toronto’s growing tendency to income stratification may be part of a worldwide trend: Metropolis magazine looks at the growing divide between rich and poor in cities around the world.
  • And if you missed it over the long weekend: random acts of violining can make a long subway delay go by faster.
