Extra, Extra: The Return of the King
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Salad King had a soft reopening last Saturday, but they’re opening for real on Tuesday. That’s tomorrow. So Salad King is reopening tomorrow. They’re also doing some kind of scavenger hunt thing where you can win a year’s worth of free food. Maybe it’s time to take our writer off the Salad King beat? After all, there are other recently resurrected Asian-inflected student hangouts that could probably use more scrutiny.
- An UrbanToronto user who goes by “steveve” made a really nice scale model of downtown Toronto, for the hell of it. Take good care of it, man. Because we all know what happens if you don’t dust those things every now and then.
- The media is extremely interested, to an almost weird degree, in this little Winnipeg girl who made a video of herself singing a Lady Gaga song and posted it on YouTube, where it attracted more than nine million views after Gaga herself tweeted a link to it. Then, Virgin Radio’s The Breakfast Show set up a phone chat between the girl and the Lady. The two sing a duet together, and Lady Gaga explains where she gets her clothes. There is crying, or at least talk of crying. It’s a lot to take in.
