WHEN: Between 6:15 and 7:50 a.m., January 3, 2011.
WHAT: A six-alarm fire broke out very early this morning, at the former location of the Salad King restaurant, which also suffered extensive damage last spring. (Salad King is set to reopen soon across the street.) CBC News is reporting that at its peak, thirty-two fire trucks and 125 firefighters were battling the blaze. Ryerson University is closed for the day, and officials are expecting roads in the area to be closed until at least noon. [ : Torontoist photographer Christopher Drost has been on the scene for a while, and is reporting that Toronto Fire Service has declared the fire to be officially out. TFS is planning to remain monitor the site over the next twenty-four hours as a precaution.]
