Extra, Extra: People, Places, and Propaganda
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- A reader emailed to tell us that Yasi’s Place, near Bloor and Lansdowne, had shut down suddenly, leaving staff without jobs, and Yasi, presumably, without a Place. We’d never heard of Yasi’s Place before, but maybe some of you have! So, FYI.
- The Star‘s Daniel Dale calls our attention to the fact that the City of Toronto’s official propaganda has gotten a little bizarre lately, thanks to Rob Ford.
- OCADU announced today that it had appointed Will Alsop as an adjunct professor in November, meaning he’ll now be teaching in or near the Sharp Centre, which he designed. (Torontoist later appropriated the building, in silhouette, for our logo.) Was this always his plan? Is the whole building riddled with secret doors that only someone of Alsop lineage can open? In any case, students are advised not to track slush into the lobby this winter, because he might take it personally.
