WHERE: Trinity Bellwoods Park’s ice rink, which is now open.
WHEN: 11 a.m. today.
WHAT: The Toronto Maple Leafs—there’s captain Dion Phaneuf, #3, in the last photo above—took to the new ice at Trinity Bellwoods today, hosted by the City of Toronto and the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment’s Team Up Foundation. The rink, noted a City press release, is “newly refurbished, with improved boards, benches and indoor space thanks to generously donated volunteer time and funds from MLSE’s Team Up Foundation and RONA.” New councillor Mike Layton (Ward 19, Trinity-Spadina) was in attendance, as was new mayor Rob Ford, who Torontoist’s Steve Kupferman spotted handing out business cards to kids in the crowd.
