Extra, Extra: Eyes To London, Holey and Moley to York, and a Pink Bike to Don Cherry
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Your weekend must-read: Eye‘s cover story by Shawn Micallef, comparing London to Toronto—everything from how fashionably dressed the men are (they win) to the sound your shoes make while walking the streets (they win) to the diversity of each city’s architecture (a tie).
- While Spacing is sending their left-wing pinko buttons to Don Cherry and Hockey Night in Canada, Curbside Cycle wants to send the ex-coach a bike “in a blushing shade of ironic pink…customized to
your own remarkable style.” - Congratulations to Holey, Moley, Yorkie, and Torkie, which the City has announced will be the names for the four tunnel-boring machines that’ll burrow their way towards York soon enough.
- The Toronto Sun Family blog isn’t sure how to feel about Mike Strobel’s guest column on Torontoist yesterday. “Judging by the comments of Torontoist readers,” they write, “the great journalism divide in 2010 is between traditional print writers/readers and uppity online writers/readers.” That is rather uppity of you, blog devoted to the Toronto Sun.
- And we don’t think that’s its name, Toronto Star. (They’ve fixed the typo since. Tim Allen really does ruin everything.)
