Extra, Extra: Rob Ford’s SimCity; Rob Ford’s Days, Numbered; And the TTC’s Worst Offenders
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- After this mess yesterday, Matt Braga tweeted to ask if Rob Ford had ever played SimCity, which was enough for Will Perkins to decide to himself. Perkins told us, via email, that “it was a slow day at work, so I scoured the net for a freeware copy of SimCity 2000 and hunted down a user-made Toronto map. I loaded up the virtual Toronto, set it on fire, took a screenshot, and photoshopped in Rob Ford calmly explaining his new transit policy… or lack thereof… in the style of the angry transit advisor from the game.” (The one who, “If you cut back on transit funding…would famously freak out,” as Perkins puts it. A larger size is here.) Doug Ford, meanwhile, apparently doesn’t want to talk about Transit City.
- Speaking of, whether you want to count up how many days Rob Ford’s been mayor for, or count down how many days you have left in his first term, HowLongHasRobFordBeenMayor.com and @RobFordTimer can help. That’s two days so far, and 1,459 days left, respectively.
- Eye looks at “cursed” addresses for restaurants—ones where the restaurants change as often as three times a year….
- …while NOW publishes Rob Ford’s formerly private cellphone number…
- …and BlogTO readers get and take the opportunity to vent about what TTC rider habit they hate the most.
