Sound Tracks: “Red Lights” by Holy Fuck

Believe it or not, music videos still exist. Sound Tracks trolls the internet to find the best and the worst of local artists’ new singles and the good, bad, or otherwise noteworthy visuals that accompany them.

If something has been made clear by the new Holy Fuck video, it’s that these electro-prog homeboys know how to work a meme.
Earlier this year, right around the time that penisChatroulette was hitting its dizzying peak (and almost simultaneous burnout) in North America, the Toronto duo used the soulless program to announce the release of their upcoming album Latin and debut the first single “Latin America.” Now, for the new video for “Red Lights,” they are using an internet fixture that is as dated as it is foolproof and timeless: animals doing people things.
Directed by one-half of the band, Brian Borcherdt, along with Michael LeBlanc, the clip starts with your standard cats jamming out, no big deal, nothing we haven’t seen before right? Flash forward to 1:00 in, where the plot thickens. We won’t ruin it for you, but let’s just say dog may not, in fact, be cat’s best friend. However, almost three hundred thousand views can’t be wrong: we can hold fast to the fact that animals will forever rule the internet.
