Bad news for the bard, announced Tuesday: Anthony Del Col and Conor McCreery emerged from TIFF’s Pitch This! competition with a $10,000 prize towards a film adaptation of their new comic series Kill Shakespeare. Described by the creators as Lord of the Rings meets Shakespeare in Love, the story finds Billy S. as a reclusive wizard with a bounty on his head, and several of his greatest villains intent on collecting. Not a bad score with only two issues of the twelve-issue comic series on shelves so far. The pitch for a live action adaptation beat out six competitors in the contest’s eleventh installment.
