Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

- The Edgewater Hotel is looking a little less edgy of late. Its famous but deteriorating sign is still gone, and it’s got a new coat of paint and a newish name: Howard Johnson Toronto Lakeshore.
- In a new video which is definitely not a thinly veiled dig against a certain mayoral candidate, Daryn Jones plays Daryn Ford, a large, cyclist-hating man.
- From Reuters’ Felix Salmon, “A unified theory of New York biking.” Salmon’s premise—and it’s an interesting and well thought-out one that could apply to Toronto as well—is that everyone, cyclists included, sees cyclists as pedestrians, when what cyclists should be seen as are motorists.
- What do soldiers from different countries eat in Afghanistan? The New York Times takes a peek. Best thing Canadians get: Chips Ahoy! cookies. Where do we sign up?
- And are you cramming to catch up on the municipal election? A good place to start, aside from Torontoist’s new politics hub of course, are past posts from the National Post‘s Posted Toronto Political Panel. Essentially, they’re mini-debates on muni-issues between Jonathan Goldsbie, Chris Selley, and Anthony Furey, who’ve been going strong since April. Since April. [: Since even earlier than April.]
