Extra, Extra: Toronto Zoo Puzzles, She Said Boom! Fights Gloom, and A Man With No Ankles
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Very clever, Toronto Zoo. The puzzle above, co-created by the Zoo and Lowe Roche, is called “Polar Bear In A Snowstorm.” [: Lowe Roche’s Sean Ohlenkamp emailed to clarify that its title is more properly “Toronto Zoo Polar Bear Puzzle.”] It looks extremely difficult.
- She Said Boom! is collecting donations for a family affected by Sunday’s big College Street fire.
- Toronto Star photographer Lucas Oleniuk got to go up with the Snowbirds on the Friday before the Canadian International Air Show. Because the Star has an excellent photo blog, you can get nice and close here.
- A pleasant surprise from Owen Pallett today: a new song. “A Man With No Ankles” [ZIP] is, says AUX, part of a four-song E.P. called A Swedish Love Story that’ll be released on September 28.
- Just in time for garbage day, inimitable Star food columnist Corey Mintz wrote a letter to his neighbours on proper waste disposal.
- And say hello to a terrifying way that people who can’t get to the office in person can still get to the office: robots. The New York Times follows a robot meant to stand in for Toronto-based Mike Beltzner around Mozilla’s California offices.
