ArtsVote is a coalition of artists, arts workers, and arts supporters, working together to raise the profile of arts issues in the upcoming municipal election, and to ensure that arts friendly candidates are elected. Founded in 1993, the coalition describes its main goal as “raising awareness among the cultural community of the importance of their vote for candidates who supported the cultural sector in the city of Toronto.”
Each election, ArtsVote sends out a survey on arts issues to mayoral and council candidates, in order to identify those who are most supportive of the arts in Toronto. The surveys are out right now and responses from the candidates vying for your vote are coming in. We’ll be bringing you those results soon, but in the meantime we thought we’d give you a sneak peak at some of the questions from the survey itself. Not sure who you’re voting for yet? Take the survey, and then compare your results to those of the candidates when we publish them next week. If the arts are important to you, you’ll be able to see at a glance which candidates share your views.
