Sunrise Propane Explosion Mystery Solved… Almost

We now have a partial explanation for the Sunrise Propane explosion, which rocked Downsview almost two years ago, on August 10, 2008. According to a report by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, which the Star obtained, and reported on late yesterday, the fireball was (as has long been suspected) precipitated by a gas leak resulting from an “illegal tank-to-tank transfer”―something Sunrise had been specifically told not to do by regulators in 2006. As to what actually sparked the fireball, nobody knows.
