Rossi to Hold Rally Against Ford’s Immigration Views Momentarily

Mayoral candidate Rocco Rossi announced earlier today that he will be leading a rally this afternoon in Nathan Phillips Square, to protest Rob Ford’s recent comments about the place of immigrants in Toronto. Made during last night’s CP24 debate, Ford’s exact words were: “Right now we can’t even deal with the 2.5 million people in this city. I think it is more important to take care of people now before we start bringing in more people.” Ford—who is considered the race’s front-runner—has been facing strong criticism of this stance from several other leading mayoral contenders in addition to Rossi, who has already called on Ford to drop out of the race. Ford, unsurprisingly, is coming out swinging in his own defence. The rally is called for 2 p.m., and Rossi is promising a livestream.
