Extra, Extra: La Blogotheque Makes it to Toronto, The Dark Side Makes it to Trinity Bellwoods, and A Good Pun Makes it to the Annex
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Usually, the music videos made by oft-imitated La Blogotheque are set in foreign lands: Owen Pallett runs down a street in Paris playing “Your Light is Spent,” say, or the Arcade Fire fill up a service elevator to play “Neon Bible,” also in Paris. For this year’s NXNE, though, Derrick Belcham shot videos for La Blogotheque of some of the bands in town. “Answer to Yourself” by the Soft Pack is above; more videos are collected here and here and here.
- Just what Trinity Bellwoods needed: Darth Vader and stormtroopers. Hipsters, right?
- Looks like having coffee at one soon-to-open Annex café will be a whole lot of pun. Snakes and Lattes touts themselves as “the first board game cafe in Toronto.” Hopefully not the last.
- And hey, what’s the total cost of the five outfits featured in Eye‘s “student guide”? $6372.50. Check out this week’s Eye for cheap drinks, cheap eats, cheap books, cheap furnishings, and $495 skirts. (With apologies to writer Sarah Nicole Prickett, who is still the best.)
