In the Oprah-approved novel The Hundred-Foot Journey, Richard Morais introduces us to Hassan Haji, budding chef extraordinaire, as his family travels from India to England and to France in search of a place to call home. Along the way, Hassan’s culinary skills blossom and he goes from helping out in his family’s restaurant to becoming one of Paris’s star chefs, fusing the spicy cuisine of his homeland with the rich cuisine of France.
