Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

- Worth reading on OpenFile today is “Eglinton Ave. goes for the gold,” about the rush of gold stores on the strip—including Russell Oliver’s Oliver Jewellery, and his new competition Mr. Gold Buyer.
- Roger Reis—of G20 looter-tackling fame—has made an appearance in Torontoist’s comments, for the sake of tackling the concept of anarchy and anti-Capitalism.
- In New York, meanwhile, it’s a veritable Canada Geesepocalypse, as nearly four hundred were killed by biologists for fear of the damage the birds could do to planes.
- On his blog, former Toronto Sun editor John Downing recounts the time he shared with Sun columnist Joe Warmington and OPP chief Julian Fantino at the Great Ontario Salmon Derby. Just days before, Warmington wrote this column about the G20, wondering out loud who was to blame for police inaction on the Saturday of the summit; he’s been critical of the way the G20 was handled since it happened. Fantino, Downing writes, is “a great friend of Warmington’s, and a great fisherman.” Oh, to be on that boat.
- Owen Pallett’s new six-song, remix-filled Lewis Takes Off His Shirt EP is available as a free download on Domino Records’ website—worth grabbing for the Benoît Pioulard version of the track, and maybe the Dan Deacon one, too.
- And a new condo’s being built at Yonge and the Esplanade, and it’s unnamed. Thus, a “Name Our Condo Contest.” Popular forum Urban Toronto has a horse in the race, but the first place spot in voting right now is “m00t.” You might recognize the name as a 4chan inside joke—it’s the online handle of the meme-generating site’s founder, whom 4chan’s users have also previously forced Time to anoint as “The World’s Most Influential Person.”
