Extra, Extra: Kensington is Hurting, Queen Elizabeth is Bored, and G20 Cameras Are Going
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
“Your G20 Stories” on Nassau just west of Augusta in Kensington Market. Photo by Martin Reis. Many more (including close-ups of stories) are in his Flickr set.
- In Kensington Market, facing Nassau Street, there’s a big, new wall of paper that started with “Your G20 Stories” on it, and has been filling up since. Martin Reis has many, many photos of the wall, and the stories and doodles and conversations on it.
- On that note, two bits of G20 news to be heartened by: Toronto Police have started removing those G20-specific CCTV cameras, according to a press release. (If one near you doesn’t scram soon, let us know.) And it’s no inquiry, but an “independent civilian review” into how police acted is in the works, too.
- From Gawker, a photo gallery of things that Queen Elizabeth has been bored by during her Canadian visit.
- Who will win the coveted title of “Canada’s Best Restroom”? Three Toronto places are in the running—the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, and Spice Route Asian Bistro & Bar. You can vote here.
- And the latest in Spacing‘s “Ideas for Toronto” column: personal rapid transit. You’re blowing our minds, Spacing.
