That’s Not a Streetcar

“I got out of the subway and saw this,” reader Andrew Williamson says, of a Honda parked on the streetcar tracks at Spadina Station’s streetcar loading area. “I don’t know any more.” What we know: someone, somehow, some time before 10 p.m. on Sunday night, apparently maneuvered their car onto Spadina’s streetcar tracks and down into the station, where those tracks are far enough off the ground to do serious damage to a car’s underbody.
“We are investigating how this happened,” TTC Chair Adam Giambrone explained on Sunday night; Director of Communications Brad Ross says that they’re “still trying to figure out what, or rather, how it happened,” but that it “appears to be a confused driver at this point.” Giambrone puts it this way: “In most cases people stop driving when they realize their mistake. We might need to make some physical changes to prevent this from happening in the future.”
