Extra, Extra: Rabble-rousers, Rebels, and Really Loud Horns
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- Vuvuzelas: rage-inducing, ear drum–shattering, droning annoyance, or gleeful instrument for the expression of joy? As the controversy rages on, be advised that in Toronto the greatest concentration of vuvuzelas can apparently be found in Yonge-Dundas Square. Or right here at Torontoist.
- They’re heeeeeeeeere. Toronto saw its first G20 protest today (at least of the organized, collective variety), with a small parade downtown as part of a Global Day of Action. Spotted: papier-mâché Harpers, and weary citizens cleaning up oil spills.
- Though you wouldn’t have known it from last week’s weather, we have officially entered Ontario’s summer harvest season. Strawberries are out now, and will soon be followed by raspberries, cherries, and other delightful things. Field trip! Some guides to tell you where to pick your own.
- It’s official: mayoral candidate Himy Syed is not—we repeat not—the Twitter rapscallion known as Rebel Mayor. (Told ya!)
