Extra, Extra: ROM May Open Up, Ford Won’t Shut Up, and Kites Won’t Fly Up
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- The Royal Ontario Museum has been asked by Ontario’s Standing Committee on Government Agencies to “develop and implement a plan which would enhance access by the residents of Ontario to the Museum” [PDF]. What will that mean? We can’t know yet, other than that it might make the ROM a little more open and available to the public—a little less costly to get inside, maybe. Leah Sandals has more.
- Rob Ford (Ward 2, Etobicoke North) is still pissed at Kyle Rae (Ward 27, Toronto Centre-Rosedale) for Rae’s $12,000 retirement party at the Rosewater Supper Club. So today, Rob Ford launched a website, Rae Must Pay! Sure, it’s childish, but give Ford some credit: the website’s certainly cheap.
- NOW‘s total revenue from ads in 2009: $13,564,801; Toronto Life‘s: $10,336,451; Eye‘s: $5,483,226 [PDF]. Quick, everyone, print out this page!
- It’s a good thing the Star‘s Map of the Week blog exists, or else we might have missed the news that we’re not allowed to fly kites during the G20 pretty much anywhere in Toronto. If you have children, good luck explaining this to them.
