Extra, Extra: Rose Gardens, Wendel Parked, and Oil’s Not Well
Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.
- The latest music video for Shad‘s new album TSOL—reviewed moments ago by Torontoist—is “Rose Garden,” and it’s a winner. Think Coldplay’s “The Scientist” with less wistfulness.
- Wendel Park isn’t on the list of semi-finalists for Sherbourne Park’s new name, and so local hockey fans hoping for a waterfront park named after Wendel Clark have booed, raged, and refused to stand for the omission. Most everyone else was relieved, though.
- Astral Media, who among other things are responsible for Toronto’s street furniture, have a colourful new logo. Excellent analysis of the new brand comes from Brand New, who don’t much like it: they say that “the clunkiness of the execution presents a media company fit for the Flintsones.” Hey, wait a second…
- How does the size of the BP oil spill compare to Toronto? No contest.
- Queen West’s Wrongbar wants to increase their capacity, and, reports Eye, residents are predictably not having any of that.
- And the Globe and Mail‘s going to contract out some of its copy editing. We eagerly anticipate a ruthlessly edited version of editor John Stackhouse’s announcement.
