Luminato: Fighting About the Future of Fiction

When five publishing heavyweights, authors Paul Theroux, Katherine Grovier, publisher Sarah MacLachlan, retailer Joel Silver and moderator Atlantic deputy editor Scott Stossel, gathered at the Isabel Bader Theatre on Saturday afternoon to talk about “Fiction in the Age of E-Books,” we knew shots were going to be thrown. Publishing houses haven’t exactly embraced the digital age, and many are currently debating DRM and the price points of e-books. It’s a conversation happening in publishing houses across the country, so we entered this discussion expecting the worst and hoping for the best. The result? Nothing that was said hasn’t been said before, but it was a frank and lively discussion that let readers in on the publishing industry’s ongoing conversation about e-books.
